Juneteenth

I'm happy we have a celebration for ending slavery in this country but when are we going to make some economic change. Talk is good. Parties, barbecues and music festivals are all good. Yeah that we now have a national holiday so quickly. I remember marching at the capital in Boise, Idaho in order to make it a federal holiday, now just in a matter of weeks we have Juneteenth as a federal holiday. My heart prays that the economic repairs will be made. The generational wealth was passed down. Blacks were excluded, towns burned down if they were doing too good, no insurance paid anything and nobody went to jail. Redlining to deliberately put black peole in a poor negative income housing situation. Where and how are they going to fix that. People need a living wage to take care of their families. The minimum wage is not for adults to take care of families. Its to barely survive, to make just enough to not qualify for assistance. When I see economic change, then I will rejoice. It's great to celebrate the freeing of slaves, two years later from the actual date. But if they don't get real financial assistance, we will be in the same boat next year. I don't want to sound negative, but I need to see economic stability on the table. I have hope that this administration will be the one to truly make a difference. Hope is all I have to give. prayers and believing in the good that shall triumph over evil. I truly hope there is a difference.
